What your company sees: a notice for respondents

Your answers build your company's report. As a rule the company sees aggregate numbers, not who answered what — but if there are few of you, an "aggregate" figure can be your answer, and there is one case where the link to your name is explicit. It has its own consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Why this document exists
You are about to answer questions about your company and your work. The answers do not stay between you and us: they build a report your company will read.
We think you should know exactly what it will and will not see before you answer, not afterwards. If this document is uncomfortable reading, that is because we are trying to tell you the uncomfortable part rather than bury it in a clause of the general privacy notice.
You can refuse any of the consents described here and still use the service. No feature is taken away as a penalty for refusing.
Your answers
The answers you give, including drafts saved before submission, are personal data about you: they are your assessments of the work you do.
We process them only with your consent. Until you give it, the answers you type stay on your device and never reach our servers. Withdraw it and we delete them.
A submitted response cannot be edited: it is a snapshot of a moment, and that is what makes comparison over time meaningful. To update the picture you complete a new assessment, which is added alongside the previous one rather than replacing it.
What your company sees
As a rule, the report shows your company aggregate numbers: averages, distributions, and the fact that people disagree on a given topic — not who thinks what.
That is what the “aggregate visibility to your company” consent covers. Without it, your answers do not enter the company report at all.
Where aggregation stops protecting you
“Aggregate” is not a magic word, and we would rather tell you where it wears thin.
- If one person at your company responds, the aggregate is their answer, however it is presented.
- If two of you respond, whoever knows their own answer can derive the other’s from the average. That is arithmetic, not a flaw we can fix.
- For that reason we show no aggregate over groups smaller than two — and we tell you plainly that at two, the shelter is thin.
If you work at a very small company, weigh that when deciding how explicit to be. It is your judgement to make, and to make it you need this information before you answer.
Open answers with your name
Some questions have a free-text field. If you allow it, what you write can appear in the report attributed to you by name.
This is the case where anonymity does not exist by definition, so it has a consent all of its own. Refuse it and your free text is not attributed.
When a question involves this attribution, we tell you again at the moment you are about to write, not only here. An in-app warning does not replace the consent, and the consent does not replace the warning: both are required.
External consultants
Your company may decide to bring in a consulting firm. From that moment that firm — named on screen to the administrator before they confirm — has read-only access to the company report, including attributed parts where the consents allow it.
That is the company’s choice, made on the basis of the service relationship between the two companies, and it can be revoked at any time from the company page.
What does not happen
- We do not tell your company when you answer or how long you take.
- We do not produce individual rankings or personal scores.
- We do not use your answers for advertising and do not pass them to third parties other than the technical suppliers listed in the general privacy notice.
- We do not derive assessments of your individual performance from your answers.
- No one at your company can read your answers individually: the report shows only aggregate numbers (and, where you allow it, free text attributed by name).

Changing your mind
Every consent described here can be withdrawn at any time from your account page, without explaining why.
Withdraw the questionnaire-answers consent and we delete them, then recompute your company’s report without them. Copies of the report someone already downloaded or printed we cannot recall: that is a real limit, and we would rather say so.
