Cookies and local storage
Draft not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Published for review: do not rely on this version.
This is a courtesy translation. In case of divergence the Italian version prevails.
We use one technical cookie to keep you signed in, and store your light/dark preference and your questionnaire draft on your device. We have no tracking cookies, no advertising and no third-party analytics — which is why there is no consent banner.
Why there is no banner
A consent banner is needed when a site stores things on your device that are not necessary to make it work — typically to measure people’s behaviour or to advertise.
We do neither. No analytics, no advertisers, no third-party scripts. Everything we store keeps you signed in and stops you losing your work. For that category the law does not require prior consent, but it does require us to tell you about it — which is what this page does.
Put practically: we are not asking for your consent because we are not doing anything that would need it.
What we store on your device
| Name | Kind | Contents | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
wowai_session |
Technical cookie, httpOnly |
An opaque session identifier, meaningless outside our servers | Keeping you signed in across pages | Until the session expires or you sign out |
wowai:theme |
Local storage | light or dark |
Remembering the theme you chose. Not an identifier, and never sent to our servers | Until you clear it |
| Questionnaire draft | Local storage | Answers you have given but not yet submitted | So you do not lose your work if you close the tab | Until submission or clearing |
None of these are third-party: all are set by our own domain.
Questionnaire drafts
Worth stating at length, because it is a deliberate choice: until you consent to us processing your answers, those answers never leave your device.
The introductory questions you meet before creating an account are not even stored there: they live in the page’s memory and disappear when you close it.
How to clear them
You can clear cookies and local storage from your browser settings, for our site or for all sites. Clearing the session cookie signs you out; clearing local storage loses your unsubmitted draft and your theme preference. Nothing irrecoverable, but worth knowing first.
If this changes
If we ever introduced analytics — or anything else not strictly necessary — we would not simply update this table: a banner would appear and your consent would be asked before anything was activated. This page shows its own version and date at the top; if it changes, the date changes with it.
